Can you go directly to Mt. Fuji after arriving at Haneda Airport?
The answer is yes.
In fact, we recently operated a private family tour that started at Haneda Airport and continued directly to Mt. Fuji.
Here is the complete itinerary and travel experience.
Arrival at Haneda Airport
The family arrived on Japan Airlines Flight JL90.
Although the scheduled arrival time was 10:15 AM, the aircraft landed early at 9:41 AM.
After immigration and baggage collection, the family exited the arrival gate at 10:39 AM.
The group consisted of a couple in their late 30s and their 9-year-old son.
After meeting them with our airport sign service, we headed directly to Mt. Fuji.
A Helpful Haneda Airport Tip
One of the most common questions we receive is about smoking areas.
At Haneda Airport Terminal 3, an indoor smoking room is located next to the currency exchange area.
Many travelers appreciate knowing this before starting their journey.
Departing for Mt. Fuji
The tour officially began at 10:50 AM.
Because the family wanted a relaxed pace, we planned a short break along the way.
Dangozaka Service Area
At 12:31 PM, we arrived at Dangozaka Service Area.
This is one of the most popular rest stops on the route to Mt. Fuji.
Visitors can enjoy local snacks, meals, coffee, and shopping before continuing the trip.
First Stop: Oshino Hakkai
At 1:44 PM, we arrived at Oshino Hakkai.
This traditional village is famous for its crystal-clear spring water.
The water comes from melted snow from Mt. Fuji that has filtered underground for many years.
Many visitors consider Oshino Hakkai one of the most authentic places near Mt. Fuji.
The family enjoyed grilled fish and Japanese fish cakes.
Their son especially loved trying local food.
Second Stop: Arakurayama Sengen Park
At 3:36 PM, we arrived at Arakurayama Sengen Park.
This is one of the most photographed locations in Japan.
The combination of the red pagoda and Mt. Fuji is famous worldwide.
Unfortunately, the mountain summit was hidden by clouds that day.
However, the family still enjoyed the experience.
They told us that simply being in the Fuji area was worth the trip.
Snack Break at Seven-Eleven
After leaving the park, we made a quick stop at a local Seven-Eleven.
The family’s son wanted a snack.
He chose a cream-filled bread and a yakisoba bread.
The banana cream bread became his favorite food of the day.
Final Stop: Oishi Park
Our final sightseeing destination was Oishi Park.
Located along Lake Kawaguchiko, Oishi Park offers beautiful seasonal scenery throughout the year.
Although Mt. Fuji remained hidden behind the clouds, the family enjoyed the peaceful lakeside atmosphere while eating ice cream and taking photos.
Returning to Tokyo
At 5:30 PM, we began the journey back to Tokyo.
After one short rest stop, we arrived at the family’s hotel in Ikebukuro at approximately 7:30 PM.
Traffic conditions were smooth, making the entire day comfortable and efficient.
Is a Mt. Fuji Tour Possible After Arriving at Haneda Airport?
The answer is absolutely yes.
During this one-day trip, the family visited:

The total tour time was approximately nine hours.
For travelers who want to maximize their first day in Japan, this is an excellent option.
Final Thoughts
Mt. Fuji may or may not be visible depending on the weather.
However, the local villages, food, lakes, and atmosphere make the journey worthwhile regardless of visibility.
If you arrive at Haneda Airport in the morning, a same-day Mt. Fuji tour is definitely possible and highly recommended.
