Every Japan trip begins differently.
Some travelers arrive at Narita or Haneda Airport and head straight into central Tokyo. Others spend their first night near the airport. And some want to leave the city behind almost immediately and begin their journey in the mountains.
One route we arrange frequently is a private transfer from Haneda or Narita Airport directly to a ryokan or hotel in Hakone.
For travelers carrying several suitcases, traveling with children or simply wanting a comfortable start after a long international flight, going directly from the airport to Hakone can be a very practical option.
But there is more than one way to plan the journey.
Depending on your flight arrival time, your airport transfer can be a simple direct ride to your ryokan — or it can become the first day of your Japan sightseeing itinerary.

From Haneda or Narita Airport Directly to Hakone
Tokyo is served by two major international gateways: Haneda Airport (HND) and Narita International Airport (NRT).
Haneda is much closer to central Tokyo, while Narita is located farther east in Chiba Prefecture.
Whichever airport you use, KT Hire can arrange a private vehicle to take you directly to your accommodation in Hakone.
After immigration and baggage collection, your driver meets you at the airport.
For eligible airport pickups, we provide a complimentary name-board meeting service, making it easier to find your driver in the arrivals area.
From there, we move together to the vehicle, load your luggage and start the journey toward Hakone.
No train transfers.
No carrying large suitcases through stations.
No searching for another taxi after reaching the Hakone area.
Just one vehicle from the airport to your hotel or ryokan.

Arriving in the Afternoon or Evening? Go Straight to Your Ryokan
For travelers arriving later in the day, the simplest itinerary is often the best.
After a long international flight, you may not want another complicated schedule.
Your journey can be as simple as:
Haneda or Narita Airport → Private Vehicle → Hakone Ryokan
Your driver meets you at the airport, helps with your luggage and takes you directly to your accommodation.
During the drive, an appropriate rest stop can be included if needed. Depending on the route and schedule, you may be able to use the restroom, get coffee, buy snacks or have a simple meal before continuing.
Then, instead of spending your first evening navigating trains and stations, you arrive at Hakone and begin your stay with a warm meal, an onsen and a quieter mountain atmosphere.
For many travelers, that is a very comfortable way to begin a Japan holiday.

Arriving in the Morning? Your Transfer Can Become Part of the Trip
Morning and lunchtime arrivals create more possibilities.
Some of our guests do not want to drive directly to their Hakone hotel and finish the day early.
Instead, they use the vehicle for sightseeing before checking in.
One popular style is:
Airport → Kamakura → Enoshima → Hakone
Another option is:
Airport → Hakone Sightseeing → Hakone Ryokan
This can work particularly well for travelers who arrive early enough and want to use their first day efficiently.
However, there is an important difference.
A direct airport-to-Hakone transfer and a vehicle arrangement that includes sightseeing are not the same service. Adding Kamakura, Enoshima or Hakone sightseeing requires additional vehicle time, so the schedule and price will be different.
When requesting a quotation, simply tell us your flight arrival time and the places you would like to visit.
We can check whether the itinerary is realistic before confirming the vehicle.

Traveling with Luggage? Keep Everything in One Vehicle
Luggage is one of the biggest reasons travelers choose private transportation.
Imagine arriving in Japan with:
two or three large suitcases,
carry-on bags,
a stroller,
shopping bags,
or luggage for an entire family.
Public transportation in Japan is excellent, but moving all of those belongings through an unfamiliar station after a long flight is not always the easiest start to a holiday.
With a private transfer, your luggage is loaded at the airport and stays with you until you arrive at your Hakone accommodation.
This is especially convenient for families, couples carrying several suitcases and multi-generation groups traveling together.
When requesting a vehicle, please tell us both your passenger count and luggage count.
The number of passengers alone does not always determine the best vehicle.

Traveling with a Child? One Child Seat Can Be Prepared
Families with young children can request one child seat free of charge in advance.
Please provide your child’s age and relevant size information when making your reservation so that we can check the arrangement.
After an international flight, having a private vehicle waiting at the airport can also make the first travel day easier for parents.
Instead of moving between trains and platforms with a child, stroller and suitcases, the family can meet the driver and continue together toward Hakone.

A Break Along the Way Is Possible
A private transfer does not mean you must remain in the vehicle continuously until you reach Hakone.
When appropriate, we can stop at a highway service area during the journey.
You can use the restroom, stretch your legs, get coffee or something to drink and, depending on the schedule, have a simple meal.
For guests who have just spent many hours on an international flight, even a short break can make the road journey more comfortable.
The goal is not simply to move you from Point A to Point B.
It is to make the transfer itself a comfortable part of your first day in Japan.

Airport to Hakone Today — Mt. Fuji to Tokyo Tomorrow
One itinerary we particularly like for travelers who want to combine Hakone, Mt. Fuji and Tokyo is a two-day journey.
For example:
Day 1
Haneda or Narita Airport
→ Hakone
→ Check in at a ryokan
→ Onsen and overnight stay
Then:
Day 2
Hakone Ryokan
→ Mt. Fuji / Lake Kawaguchi Area
→ Tokyo Hotel
This turns what would otherwise be an ordinary airport transfer into the beginning of a Hakone and Mt. Fuji private journey.
You arrive in Japan, travel directly to Hakone, enjoy your ryokan and onsen, and then continue sightseeing the following day before reaching Tokyo.
There is no need to return to central Tokyo immediately after landing and then travel back toward Hakone the next morning.
For some itineraries, starting with Hakone can be a very efficient way to organize the first two days of a Japan trip.

Hakone Does Not Have to Be the End of the Journey
Private transportation becomes especially useful when your itinerary does not follow a simple round trip.
After staying in Hakone, travelers may continue to:
Mt. Fuji / Lake Kawaguchi
Tokyo
Haneda Airport
Narita Airport
or another destination.
Some guests book only the airport-to-Hakone transfer.
Others ask us to handle several parts of their Japan journey.
For example:
Narita Airport → Hakone
Hakone → Mt. Fuji → Tokyo
Tokyo Hotel → Haneda Airport
If you already know your entire itinerary, sending all of the routes together makes it easier for us to recommend suitable vehicles and prepare a quotation.

Direct Transfer or Sightseeing? Build the Schedule Around Your Flight
There is no single “correct” itinerary after arriving in Japan.
If your flight lands in the evening, going directly to your Hakone ryokan may be the most comfortable choice.
If you arrive early in the morning, adding sightseeing may help you make better use of the day.
If you have children or a large amount of luggage, a simple door-to-door transfer may be more important than trying to visit another attraction.
That is why we recommend starting with your actual flight schedule rather than forcing your trip into a fixed tour.
Tell us:
your airport
flight number and arrival time
number of passengers
number and size of suitcases
Hakone hotel or ryokan
child-seat requirement
and, if you want sightseeing,
the places you would like to visit before check-in.
We can then check the route and help you build a realistic schedule.

Start Your Japan Journey in Hakone
For travelers arriving at Haneda or Narita Airport, Tokyo does not always have to be the first destination.
You can meet your private driver at the airport, load your luggage once and head directly toward Hakone.
Arrive early and add sightseeing.
Arrive later and go straight to your ryokan.
Spend the night enjoying Hakone, then continue to Mt. Fuji and Tokyo the next day.
Your airport transfer can be more than transportation.
It can be the first chapter of your Japan journey.
Haneda • Narita → Hakone Ryokan → Mt. Fuji → Tokyo
KT Hire can arrange the vehicle around your actual travel schedule, luggage and destination.
